Call for Abstracts

The local organizing committee of GeoQuebec 2015 calls for members of the Canadian and international geotechnical, cold regions and permafrost community to present recent research developments in their respective fields of interest and practice during the conference.

Case studies and papers dealing with the complex challenges that practitioners and scientists need to address to support sustainable economic development are especially sought. Presentations illustrating analysis, techniques and innovative solutions as well as research on recent trends or future prospects are encouraged.

Authors are invited to submit abstracts of a maximum of 400 words by January 29, 2015. Abstracts can be written in English or French.

Abstracts should generally fall within the following general themes:
  • Fundamentals
  • Soil and Terrain Characterization
  • Geohazards
  • Infrastructure Design and Operation
  • Problematic Soils
  • Mining Waste Management and Environmental Geotechnology
  • Sustainable Development
A detailed list of the proposed subtopics can be found on Technical Themes page of the conference web site.

Invitations for submission of full papers will be sent to authors whose abstracts are accepted by the Technical Committee by February 21, 2015. The submitted papers will be reviewed prior to final acceptance for inclusion in the conference proceedings. At least one author of an accepted paper must register for the conference in order to upload a final paper and to be invited to make a presentation in the technical program.

Guidelines for the preparation and submission of technical papers will be posted in early 2015 or before. Authors of accepted abstracts must submit their full paper by May 15, 2015, along with at least one full conference registration. Authors are expected to present their paper during the conference.

Full papers will be reviewed for clarity and technical merit. In cases where the reviewers feel revisions are necessary, reviewers’ comments will be provided by June 30, 2015 and reviewed papers are being due not later than July 17, 2015. Accepted papers, for which at least one author has registered for the conference, will be included in published proceedings of the conference on a USB key, which each registrant will receive as part of their registration fee.

Final decisions regarding the technical merit, relevance, and assigned session topic for accepted papers are the responsibilities of the Technical Committee.
